Caffeine Free
Today marks my one-year anniversary of giving up caffeine! Lovin’ it. Freedom it sweet! I don’t want it or “need” it anymore.
If you can’t imagine yourself doing this you might be in bondage to it. You can do it. And freedom is sweet!
more on netbooks
I’m predicting that in less than 2 years the sale of netbooks will outnumber laptops and desktops combined.
Of course, I might be completely wrong. But I’m not the only one - AT&T has figured that out too.
In 2009, the consumer will act rationally.

living below your means
I’ve always known that if Americans lived below their means it would cripple the economy, and now we’re seeing it firsthand.
Materialism runs deep, however, and I’m interested in some of the other ways we will define “status” when purchasing power is taken out of the equation.
Our government is pumping billions of dollars it doesn’t have to fend off a total...
This great video captures how difficult it is for any organization to effectively communicate in today’s marketplace.
How much is a cold worth to you?
The Denver Post recently pulled a story off the AP wire detailing a study that showed people who slept longer hours were less susceptible to catching a cold.
They paid subjects $800 to have a cold virus sprayed up their nose and then sent them to a hotel. Guess who got sick? Conventional wisdom has always suggested that being worn down/not getting enough sleep opens you up to getting sick, but...

Sleeping Pills Rising in Popularity Among Young... →
Here is a fascinating article about a significant percentage of young adults who are having enough trouble sleeping that they are seeking prescriptions for sleeping pills. In my opinion a sleeping pill usually treats a symptom, not a problem (which could be a simple as a change in diet & exercise or as complex as struggling with an unsatisfied soul).

the future of online education
In 2009 growing churches are really going to struggle with how to effectively minister in a climate of rising attendance and shrinking income.
Many churches already utilize online education informally through pastor’s blogs, e-books and sites like vimeo. But most small churches don’t have the funds for a significant online education initiative. One of the many reasons I love what I...

a bad apple can spoil the bunch
A recent study by Dr. Will Felps has shown that a negative person can disproportionately affect a team’s ability to achieve greatness.
I expect a negative person to affect a group, but also expect that positive, energetic optimism of the rest of the group can counteract this negativity. But this doesn’t happen. The effect is disproportionate and profound. Groups with a bad apple...

mobile devices
The Pew Internet Project projects that the mobile device will be the primary connection tool to the internet for most people in the world in 2020.
I wouldn’t have believed this a few years ago but I think it will be true far sooner, perhaps by 2012.
Every morning I grab my iPod Touch and check e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, news headlines, tech news, MLB.com and the weather forecast all before...

This was my favorite song this Christmas, by Steve Fee. The 30-second iTunes preview doesn’t do it justice. Great song!
