“So what’s next for FuelBand? Well, it seems that the idea was to give film maker Casey Neistat a large, yet undisclosed, amount of cash to create a film around the idea of #makeitcount. But Neistat had his own ideas, so instead he and his friend Max Joseph spent the cash traveling the world for 10 days, filming their adventures as they went.” — The New Nike FuelBand “Ad” is Genius

In the sometimes-tricky father-son sports relationship, Oliver Luck believes “less is more.” “I didn’t want to be a helicopter parent on the sideline,” he says. “We were the antithesis of a son and father who dissected a football game. I never watched a moment of film with him. You can have a lot of coaches, but you only have one dad.” (via Andrew Luck: Meet the Indianapolis Colts’ new No. 1 quarterback – USATODAY.com)

“Of course, the hard-core coffee snobs think Starbucks is crap. But nobody can argue with the fact that Starbucks rules the retail coffee market. That’s what Apple does with gaming. They’re not going after the console gamer. Just as Starbucks got non-gourmet coffee drinkers to drink gourmet coffee, Apple is getting non gamers to play games.” — Why Apple Has Already Pwned the Gaming Market | Cult of Mac

Dollar Shave Club

I’ve been shaving with my new razors for a few weeks now and can say that I’m impressed with what Dollar Shave Club is doing.

If you do the math and it works out for you, I recommend getting your razors through the mail. Great product at a great price!

“DeAngelo directed a live webcam at some of the “most dangerous drivers in the world,” on New York City’s Fifth Avenue. That data is tracked onto the routes of cars in the classic [Frogger] game, so that they mimic what’s happening on the road in real time. “It’s really fun, actually,” DeAngelo says. “I mean, if you play at 3:00 am, it’s pretty easy to win, and if you play at 4:30 on Friday it’s almost impossible, which kind of adds to the charm.” — Tyler DeAngelo: Fifth Ave Frogger - Cat: Creativity and Technology - Creativity Online

“Because Mister Rogers is such a busy man, however, he could not write the chapter himself, and he asked a woman who worked for him to write it instead. She worked very hard at writing the chapter, until one day she showed what she had written to Mister Rogers, who read it and crossed it all out and wrote a sentence addressed directly to the doctors who would be reading it: “You were a child once, too.” And that’s how the chapter began.” — Pittsburgh in Words - Can You Say … ‘Hero’? by Tom Junod

Who knows what the future holds? Not even Tony LaRussa, the father of the modern bullpen, likely could have envisioned a pitcher limited to about 60 innings being worth more than $12 million while representing a breakdown waiting to happen. Back in January I gave up shave gel, possibly for good. I’ve been using a brush & shave soap and love it!
1. It’s environmentally sustainable.
2. It’s less expensive. The soap lasts a long time!
3. Every time I shave I add something like a hundred points to my man card.
4. It feels great.

If you want to give it a shot, you can make a minimal investment in a starter shave set at Amazon or Walmart to see if you like it.

delete meeting in Outlook 2007 without sending cancellation

Even if someone has declined a meeting, I can’t delete the meeting in Outlook 2007 without sending a cancellation out.

The work-around: take Outlook offline (File/Work Offline), delete the meeting, send the cancellation, and then go to your Outbox and delete the cancellation notice.

Then un-check Work Offline to take Outlook back online.

“This is by no means a ‘pivot‘, at least not in the typical ‘we’re failing and need to change’ sense. The product is a market leader, has over 4.5 million users and items are saved at a rate of 5 times a second…that’s over 400,000 items saved a day. However despite [Read it Later] being the most popular ‘read later’ application on the market, it has often lost in the ‘coolness’ department to competitor Instapaper and more recently, Readability. Well no more. Weiner and his team have been brave enough to refresh when things are going rather well and have elevated their status from the “Windows” of read later apps (at least according to Marco Arment, founder of competitor Instapaper) to the Apple, the innovator.
